Cheesy Beef Lasagna
There are some meals that instantly make a house feel like home, and lasagna is definitely one of them. The moment that rich meat sauce starts simmering on the stove and the cheese begins to melt in the oven, the whole kitchen feels warmer and a little more inviting. It’s the kind of dish that belongs at family dinners, weekend gatherings, or those evenings when you simply want something hearty and comforting on the table.
What makes this cheesy beef lasagna so special is the way all those classic layers come together. You get tender pasta, a savory beef sauce, creamy ricotta, and that golden, bubbling cheese on top that everyone secretly hopes for the biggest piece of. It’s rich without being complicated, familiar in the best possible way, and every slice feels like comfort you can serve with a spoon and a spatula.

Ingredients
- 9 lasagna noodles
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups marinara or pasta sauce
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley, plus extra for garnish
- Butter or oil, for greasing the baking dish
Instructions
Start by cooking the lasagna noodles in a large pot of salted boiling water. Follow the package instructions and cook them until just tender. Drain them well, then lay them flat so they don’t stick together while you prepare the filling.
Next, make the meat sauce. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and let it soften for 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant.
Add the ground beef and cook until it’s nicely browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. If there’s a lot of grease in the pan, drain off the excess. Then stir in the marinara sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes, until it smells rich and savory and thickens just a little.
While the sauce is bubbling away, make the cheese filling. In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, 1/2 cup of the Parmesan, and the chopped parsley. Stir until everything is smooth and well mixed.
Now it’s time to assemble. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease your baking dish with a little butter or oil. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce across the bottom. Add a layer of lasagna noodles, then spoon over some of the ricotta mixture, followed by more meat sauce and a handful of mozzarella. Keep repeating the layers until everything is used up, finishing with a final layer of sauce, the rest of the mozzarella, and the remaining Parmesan on top.
Cover the dish loosely with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for another 15 to 20 minutes, until the cheese is melted, bubbling, and lightly golden around the edges. The top should look beautifully gooey and irresistible.
Once it comes out of the oven, let the lasagna rest for 10 to 15 minutes before slicing. It’s tempting to dig in right away, but that little pause makes all the layers settle nicely and gives you cleaner slices.
Presentation
Lasagna always looks best when served in generous squares with those lovely layers showing. Use a wide spatula to lift each piece carefully onto a plate. A sprinkle of fresh parsley over the top adds a pop of color and makes the whole dish feel fresh and finished.
For an extra cozy touch, serve it with warm garlic bread or a simple green salad on the side. And if you want it to look especially inviting, let a little of that melted cheese stretch naturally as you plate it. That golden, bubbly top is part of the charm.
