Creamy Paprika Chicken with Golden Fries
This is one of those dinners that feels a little bit indulgent in the best way — creamy, savory chicken with just the right warmth from paprika, served next to a pile of crispy golden fries. It’s cozy comfort food, but it still feels a little “treat yourself,” especially when that sauce starts pooling on the plate.
The chicken comes out juicy and tender, with smoky-sweet paprika clinging to every bite. Then you’ve got this silky cream sauce — garlicky, Parmesan-rich, and perfect for spooning (or, let’s be honest, dunking fries into). It’s the kind of meal you make when you want something satisfying fast, without giving up that homemade, restaurant-style vibe.
If you love a skillet dinner that smells amazing and disappears even faster, you’re in for a good one.

Ingredients
For the Chicken & Sauce
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into large chunks
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon butter
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon sweet paprika
½ teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1 cup heavy cream
½ cup chicken broth
½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional, for depth)
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
For Serving
4 cups thick-cut French fries (oven-baked or fried)
Extra chopped parsley, for garnish
Instructions
1. Season the Chicken
Pat the chicken chunks dry with paper towels. This helps them brown nicely. Season them well with salt, black pepper, sweet paprika, smoked paprika, and Italian seasoning. Toss a little so every piece gets coated.
2. Sear the Chicken
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once it’s hot, add the chicken in a single layer. Let it cook undisturbed for a few minutes so it gets that golden crust.
Cook for about 4–5 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through. Transfer the chicken to a plate and set it aside.
3. Start the Sauce
Lower the heat to medium. In the same skillet, add the butter. When it melts, stir in the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds. You’ll smell it right away — warm and fragrant.
4. Build the Creamy Sauce
Pour in the chicken broth to deglaze the pan, scraping up all the flavorful browned bits stuck to the bottom. Then stir in the heavy cream, Dijon mustard (if using), and chili flakes.
Let it simmer gently for 3–4 minutes, until it thickens just a little.
5. Add the Parmesan
Stir in the grated Parmesan. Keep stirring as it melts into the sauce, turning it rich and glossy. Taste and adjust with a little more salt and pepper if needed.
6. Bring the Chicken Back
Add the chicken back into the skillet. Spoon the sauce over the top and let everything simmer together for another 3–4 minutes, until the chicken is warmed through and beautifully coated.
7. Cook the Fries
While the sauce finishes, cook your fries however you like — oven-baked for easy cleanup or fried for extra crispiness. Season them with salt and a sprinkle of parsley while they’re hot.
8. Serve
Plate the creamy paprika chicken alongside the fries. Spoon extra sauce over the chicken (and if it drips onto the fries… that’s a happy accident). Finish with fresh parsley on top.
Presentation
For a really appetizing plate, pile the fries on one side and nestle the saucy chicken next to them. Add a little extra parsley for color, and if you want a “wow” touch, shave a bit more Parmesan over the chicken right before serving.
This dish also loves a simple side — something fresh and crunchy like a lemony salad or quick cucumber slices helps balance the richness. And if you’re serving guests, bring the skillet to the table. That creamy sauce bubbling at the edges is hard to resist.
